The landscape and biodiversity are distributed in two distinct areas.

On the one hand, the mountain area that occupies the greater part of the region, with the Sierra de Somosierra, La Cabrera, The Morcuera and much of the Sierra de Guadarrama.

And on the other, noteworthy are its valleys, lagoons, reservoirs and basins of the rivers Lozoya and Jarama.
