• The Villa de Rascafria is a candidate with other 9 finalist villages from all over Spain to be elected Rural Tourism Capital 2020.

    The voting period opens through the website enabled by the EscapadaRural.com The winning people will be announced on 3 July; that accolade would convert Rascafría in the reference village to enjoy rural tourism in our country.

    The competition seeks to give visibility to municipalities that bet on rural tourism involving entrepreneurs, Town Hall and local population to convince travellers of the appeal of this sustainable tourism model.

    Another objective of the contest is to share experiences and concerns among the finalist peoples.

    Rising with the title of Capital of Rural Tourism has direct consequences on the development and economy of the municipality as stated by the winning municipalities of previous editions such as Siguenza, Ainsa-Sobrarbe and Santillana del Mar.

    Rascafría City Council has been working for years to make sustainability a strategic axis of our tourism sector and continue to have an investment in both product diversification, training and digitization of the sector. We are aware that the new reality that we are living will modify the profile of our visitors and that is a beautiful challenge that we are willing to face.

    The town of Rascafría it's the ideal place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of Madrid, with dreamy landscapes, unique monuments, and a privileged location in the green heart of the Guadarrama National Park, which makes it ideal for being in touch with nature.

    The treasure of Rascafria's cultural heritage is undoubtedly the Royal Monastery Santa Maria de El Paular, built in 1.390 and declared a Cultural Interest From 1876.

    The fact that the Villa de Rascafría is one of the 10 finalists of the IV edition of "Capital of Rural Tourism" represents an opportunity for our municipality and adds to the effort that since the City Council is being made especially this year 2020, under the theme of World Tourism Day :

    " Tourism and Rural Development ".
