RUTA 3. Mill Road
Point of departure:
Cervera de Buitrago. Church C/
Simple route through the vicinity of the Atazar Reservoir. Traditional road leading to the mill, today under the waters of the reservoir.
The route departs from Church Street, corner street Pozas in Cervera de Buitrago, and crosses the village to the port area and the recreational area of La Marina. A few meters further on it is deflected to the left by a dirt track that continues until the end of the course. The path coincides on its path with the traditional path that reached the old flour mill on the Lozoya River. Today, the route ends on the shore of the El Atazar reservoir and no remains of the mill are preserved. The return is made by the same way.
The tour allows you to enjoy beautiful views of the reservoir and the marina. The reservoir was built in 1972 and represents almost the 50 % the volume of embalmed water in the region. On the other hand, the port allows the development of nautical activities- motorsports without motor.
The route crosses an open landscape, dotted with granite rocks with more or less rounded shapes. Grasses with holm oaks predominate, junipers and jars, accompanied by aromatic species such as cantueso, thyme and rosemary. They are the result of traditional livestock activity, based mainly on the exploitation of goats and sheep. Currently, a single herd of sheep feeds on these pastures.
